windstorm.mp3 (1.2 MB)

Perhaps having had one to many of Mr. Graham's crackers, this piece of blustery hoopla I played on the piano in 1996, I here remixed in dual mono and looped the same three riffs out of sequence over top of one another, such that it sounds like there are two pianos, and that I'm playing accompanyment with myself when I am really not. It ends with some melacholy windchimes authentic to the original recording.

the Perfect Karaoke.mp3 (6.1 MB)

Me singing along with Trent Reznor's song "the Perfect Drug" from the soundtrack to the David Lynch movie Lost Highway. Kinda reminds me of a scene with Jim Carrey's character in the movie "the Cable Guy." LOL!

vaudvillain.mp3 (1.2 MB)

An exceedingly melancholy progression that transposes minor keys, yet is played in the style of a sad waltz. Ultimately it has the sound, to me, of carnival music for sad clowns.

dabeat.mp3 (2.6 MB)

Beginning with a loop from Ennio Morricone's immortal theme for Francis Ford Copppla's adaptation of Mario Puzo's "Godfather" movies, I add a loop from "Suicide is Painless" by Manic Street Preachers (the version from the old 70's feel-good war sit-com MASH, not the, IMO, far superior version by Marilyn Manson). These continue on beneath the main mix for the whole song. Next a riff from "Organ Donor" by DJ Shadow is introduced. In the breakdown we have a riff from an old instrumental Jedi Mind Tricks track off Retaliation (I think). I drop the beat toward the end with a four-count of the intro notes to Busta Rhymes' Cannon (off the Big Bang Prelude) with that one hook from "In Da Club" by 50 Cent. Then the Organ Donor riff kicks back in. As it is all falling apart toward the end I drop back into Cannon.

At some point I plan to do some lyrics over this.

precession.mp3 (1.2 MB)

A really rather boring and repetitive track that works decently as a bassline fugue but as a progression fails to be climactic and so tapers off.

tbs(dub)2.mp3 (3.8 MB)

LOL! These are my friends in the reggae band, "Trial By Stone," playing a filler song from a live show. The track title on their recording of that night for this one was "Waiting for Buck to Exhale." I merely overdubbed the dialogue from the scene in the Jim Henson / Frank Oz movie "the Dark Crystal" from whence they got their name. All in all the "dub" effects I add to the vocal sample are at least as much of a contribution to the song as Max's spacey guitar. LOL!

Oz.mp3 (1.3 MB)

This is another old piano riff from 96. It starts out kinda jaunty, but becomes increasingly forboding. I've looped this one like a fugue too to signigy that it, like any of my piano licks from 96, are fair game to rip off and record beats over.

soft.mp3 (8.5 MB)

An olde Goth song, "The Temple" by a band (I shit you not) called "Golden Dawn," available on an arcane collection called "Doom & Gloom: Visions Of The Apocalypse," mixed over top of a track by Krishna Das from a collection called "Blast From the Future." Even though the song by Krishna Das is one of his rare, studio-produced tracks, I mixed it "softer" than the lyrical, but musically asynchronous, Goth "Temple." I do, however, enjoy the interplay between the chorus of the one and the refrain of the other.

thunderstorm.mp3 (1.6 MB)

A brooding and disturbed song that reminds me of wringing hands on a rainy day, and the pacing of a caged animal.

MySweetSatan.mp3 (9.2 MB)

Led Zepplin's immortal "Stairway to Heaven" played in reverse. I sing along with some lyrics a friend of mine found online to accent what the vocals sound like in "backwards speech." The melody to this song, backwards, is better than my vocals.

Lyrics to Stairway to Heaven backwards, aka "my sweet satan":

Play backwards,
Hear why its sung here, oppositioner...

All on track, all arriving
They all sing, and they are one.
Shall I loathe you now, parishoner?
Oh hear Him, Christian within me.
It stirs my sin; the river,
Oh, she swells with our lousiness.
All my life will end for him?
We're all out of signs,
I know I'm sorta shocked
To hear The Lord,
My God now will save me!

Oh I will n'er be saved,
Because I live with Satan..
One wish today;
That you'll all pray for
Three who will make it here late.
Pray now and you'll see..
The 'Lord' turned me on,
But, oh, I was the shaggy fool..
Clothed in agony,
Lost at a height.

There's no escaping it...

Nor his woes...

So here's to my Sweet Satan.
The other's little path
Would make me sad,
Whose power is faith.
He'll give those with him 666.
And all the evil fools,
they know he made
us suffer sadly.

"Family won't get loose,
They offered me."
Always soothes the worker.
Always will be as we know now
"I see ruins," said he,
"the world they offered me?
Who wished the Lord's fall?"
If we lose feather,
Say you'll save me!

And no wimps can bend the rules..
And no wimps can do..

Hunt next to the shore,
'Cause they see all from there,
See here's the news,
Who walks with mute grief!
Perhaps no-one found thee...
"Heavy, lift me out,"
Spake the Reve,
"Someday, failed, we'll lose one line-up,
They've gotta leave forsaken."

And no wimps can do..
And no wimps can do...

He, who say the lords
Thoth have our laws,
Maat must be superb. Mass is ended..
Over there,
He who should learn thee.
Any moot that serves by my sworn music,
I wish it with snow be shushed,
All for my mass's sake.
Hear why its sung,
here, oppositioner.
He who should show
May make his show worthy,
To look, for us, odd.. sickly,
There's one chance - take his show.
Hold thy head,
Hear why its sung here. oppositioner.
Who owns this earth built below?
Oh sweet Israel...
