"electrobaby fanfare" (884 KB)
This track was meant to be the introductory fanfare, played as the lights dimmed and the curtain withdrew, to show the feature production of my life. It begins with the sounds of a baby crying and an irregular frequency pulsed electromagnetic current. This would represent my being electrocuted while in the womb by my mother, accidentally, while her friend, my father's other lover, did nothing. This track is combined with "All Hail the American Night," a sound-clip from his album of poetry called "The American Night," by Jim Morrison, my hero, which is followed by the Twentieth Century Fox fanfare for their films. In other words, "start the show"!

Remember when TV used to go off the air at night? They'd play Copeland's "Fanfare for the Common Man" with some ridiculous video footage of a bald-eagle flying over the Grand Canyon. Then there would be a long dial-tone to wake you up if you'd fallen asleep watching the tube. Then the set would switch to static. The tube actually went dead. This static was called "Dead Air."

the second cut track:: CommonMan4A2.mp3 (6.09 MB) combines a 440 MgHz "dial-tone" sound-effect followed by a constant static tone called "pink-noise in phase." These effects combined to form my original "Dead Air" project, however, I did not stop there.
In the spirit of Caroll-Ann's character in the film "Poltergeist," I blatantly "hid" two tracks "behind" the "Dead Air" noise. The first is my earlier track, called TOOL, from the album EYE. The second is another earlier track, WINTER from the album ONE. At the end of the evening, I added the theme for PBS' "the Reading Rainbow" kids' show and a shrill alarm-clock sound-effect.

"Harmonica Exodus" (1.7 MB)
This charming little number starts off with a sample of some Dj turntable-scratching of a looped sample. The song dropping in following this short sample is a combination of the song "Exodus" by Pat Boone and "The Man With the Harmonica," by Ennio Morricone from the soundtrack to the "spaghetti western" film "Once Upon a Time in the West." The sample at the very end of the track is from the conclusion to a speech delivered in 1944 by Adolf Hitler.

This track is introduced, most humbly, by my favorite actress of all time, Heather Donahue, from her drammatic on-camera "confession scene" in the movie "the Blair Witch Project." For shits and giggles I backwards masked it over top of itself. The entire track is a dub of "the Cellar" by Antonio Cora from "Josh's Blair Witch Mix, the soundtrack to the Blair Witch Project." Overtop of the first half I've mixed the track "Celler Door" by Michael Andrews from the soundtrack to "Donnie Darko." Over the second half of the track I mixed the first and second chorus over top of one another from the song "Haunted" by Type O Negative, also off the Blair Witch soundtrack.

This track combines the introductory riff from the Dandy Warhol's song "Mohammed" with a very obscure track called "Always Was / Always Shall Be" off the album "Always Is" by Of Mary's Blood (I think this was used in an art show once). Finally "Mary of Silence" by Mazzy Star kicks in, and that's when the song's mood goes south for the winter. The track concludes how it began.

Led Zepplin's immortal "Stairway to Heaven" played in reverse. I sing along with some lyrics a friend of mine found online to accent what the vocals sound like in "backwards speech." The melody to this song, backwards, is better than my vocals.

"Saturn's Sermon" (2.2 MB)
Maynard Keenan, from the bands TOOL and A Perfect Circle, delivers his unforgettable sermon of "impending doom" from the "hidden" track, "DIsgustipated," from TOOL's breakthrough album, "Undertow." This is mixed with the radar wave transmission from NASA's Cassini space-probe as it approached and passed the rings of Saturn, which can be found online here: http://www-pw.physics.uiowa.edu/cassini/. I pitch-shifted the sounds of Saturn's rings and overlapped them at various pitches.

"Disgustipation cured by Kinky Sex" (4.9 MB)
This "ultimate murder ballad" combines the remainder of TOOL's hidden track, "Disgustipated," from their album "Undertow," with the Dead Kennedy's track, "Kinky Sex (Makes the World Go 'Round)," from their album "Give Me Convenience Or Give Me Death." If you might find listening to Jello Biafra describe the motives for WWIII at the same time as Maynard blasts his way through a mad chant with a shotgun, this song's your huckleberry.

"APOCALYPSO 2"
This is the second version of an earlier track, apocalypso1 (6.2 MB), that actually ended up getting cut from the ORB album. It combined roughly three parts in its original form. The first was the track preceding "O Fortuna" from Karl Orff's "Carmina Burana." The second was a portion from Mozart's "Requiem Mass for the Dead." The third combined a song performed by the Chronus Quartet for Clint Mansell's soundtrack to Darren Arronovsky's "Requiem for a Dream" with a return to the refrains from "Carmina Burana" and Mozart's "Requiem." For the "first" (second) version, I added some Catholic prayers backwards for effect. My original plan was to narrate some eschatological apocrypha over it, however this has not yet come to pass.

the first cut track:: apocalypso2A1 (1.4 MB) opens with "Every Man and Every Woman is a Star," from the "666" cd of remixed recordings by Aleister Crowley. Next, "Masked Ball" from the "Eyes Wide Shut" soundtrack by Jocelyn Pook, mixed forwards and in reverse overtop of each other, is mixed with "Die Kathedrale der Buecher" (The Cathedral of Books) from the "Wings of Desire" soundtrack. Following this, an excerpt from "A Host of Seraphim" by "Dead Can Dance," played simultaneously forward and in reverse segues the song into its second cut.
the second cut track:: apocalypso2B (2.07 MB) opens with the 1941 declaration of war against the Allies by Adolph Hitler, mixed simultaneously forwards and in reverse. The songs from "666," "Eyes Wide Shut," and "Wings of Desire" continue, and mid-way through this cut, "The Ring of Fire" by Wojciech Kilar from the soundtrack to "Dracula" (the version directed by Francis Ford Coppolla) and "Der paranoide Engel" from the "Wings of Desire" soundtrack are added.
the third cut track:: apocalypso2C (2.71 MB) continues Hitler's speech, the songs from "666," "Dracula" and "Wings of Desire" continue. Finally, the track's climax adds the end of Usama Bin Ladin's 2004 video, also mixed simultanesously forwards and in reverse.

The band "Therion" performs their opera-metal hit, "To Mega Therion" live, from their album "Crowning of Atlantis," while Aleister Crowley explains some of the finer points of the Enochian invokation ceremony.

This track combines the song "The End" by legendary psychedlic rock-Gods The Doors with the 1978 "death tape" (FBI Q042) recorded by Jim Jones convincing his 1000 followers to commit mass-suicide by drinking posion kool-aid. Lyrics available by request. I called the song 9-11 for reasons that will become obvious once you listen to the words.
