this video briefly introduces the 7 now-known versions of the Sigilum Dei Aemeth, which originated in a Grimoire of Pope Honorius from sometime in the 1500's. Variations include the use of outer-circles of names, the use of a pent or hex within the hept, and the languages. Commonalities include placement of the 7, daily arch-angels. Dee's is by far the most complex encryption, however the version by Athansius Kircher is also pleasing in its elegance. Others include versions from the Grimoire of King Solomon.

This video lecture presents more information on the Sigilum Dei Aemeth of John Dee's Enochian system of magic. We begin by applying a 7 colour-coding method to deciphering the placement of the letters on the Sigilum. Using this method we can more easily follow Dee's careful recombinations of the letters of the 7 Arch-Angel names, and the distribution of these names as codes across a lamen can become more easily interpretable.

Dee's version of the Sigilum incorporated both letters and numbers as a means of describing rotation of the disk (or of its elementary components) either clockwise or counter-clockwise. At the end of the video, we begin to examine the method of skrying Dee used, a form of crystal-ball gazing, to create his more complex system of Enochian magic.

this video deals with John Dee's "Heptarchical Bonorum," or encryption system based on the 7 planets of antiquity. We are first introduced to the unfolded cross of 7 Bonorum letter square with 49 letters in each. The central, or first, square is only the letter "B," such that each of the 7-letter names of the Bonorum "Princes" derived by this method begins with the letter "B." These 49 "Princes," or names of 7 letters each, are then portrayed on a circle, as planetary attributes per planetary ruler, and next as a list of each planetary attribute grouped together. Next, by taking the 6 letters of each name not across, as rows, but along the circle, in columns, we derive 7 squares of 42 letters each, excluding the initial square of only the letter "B." These 7 squares of 42 letters each then intersort to form the names of 42 "Ministers" for each of the 7 planets. Finally, we look at this entire system of encryption as upon a cube, as Dee himself must have originally imagined it, and then speculate on the method of placing these attributes not on the outside of the box, but on the inner-walls, as a method for deriving Dee's later "Enochian" system of magic.

this video deals with the remaining, otherwise unattributed, works of John Dee than the Bonorum and the Enochian system, including the "Ensigns of Creation," Dee's first and second lamens, and the "Holy Table." On the "Holy Table" and second lamen we are first introduced to Dee's invention, the "Enochian language," and specifically some letters from its alphabet. Although some of the "Holy Table" can be deciphered as related to the Bonorum, neither the outer-ring of the "Holy Table," nor Dee's second lamen, given also in Enochian, have yet been deciphered. Despite implications dealing with the Goetia of King Solomon, the meaning of the 7 "Ensigns of Creation" remains equally unknown. Add to this the obscure and unstudied 1st lamen of Dee, and find that most of the mysteries regarding Dee's "Enochian" system are to be found in these few ciphers.

this video covers the entire folio of Dee's works that can be properly called "Enochian." We begin with a brief examination of Dee's golden amulet depicting an arrangement of the 12 tribes of Israel, according to how they would have dispersed during the diaspora by the year of Dee's calculating, 1585. Begining with the 12 "Angelic Kings" assigned there to the 4 cardinal directions, we follow next to the 4 elemental Watchtowers of Dee's most definitively "Enochian" system. We examine these thouroughly, though rapidly, using a simple colour-coding method. We examine first Dee's own set of traits attributed to the 4 Watchtowers, and second the more familiar system of 92 Sigils, presented colour-coded according to their placement among the 30 "Ayres." We examine the entire system of 91 "Places in Earth," assigning them each an Ayre, an Angelic King and a cardinal direction. Each letter of the 91 places in earth is colour-coded to the attribute of its location on the 4 Elemental watchtowers. Lastly we examine the 30 Ayres as concentric circles model of Dee, and apply the same colour-coding method to reveal a system of 4 concentric elemental realms, not unlike the 4 worlds of QBLH. Finally, the student is reminded to consider the difference in attributions between the pre- and post- Raphaelite revision of 4-20-1587. This concludes this section of the lectures on John Dee's "Enochian" System, and in the next section we will begin to study later applications of Dee's system by groups following the Order of the Golden Dawn.

this video introduces us to the Enochian material as it was applied by the Golden Dawn, a 20th century group of occultists and magicians who studied John Dee's works. We begin with a basic introduction to some concepts essential to understanding the Golden Dawn applications to Dee's work. First we look at the model of the Pentagram of the Elements as applied to the Zodiac. Second we consider the model, reprinted by Aleister Crowley in his "Book of Thoth," of the 7 planets and the 7 days of the week. Comparing these two we yield new insights into both, and I have colour-coded both to make them easier to visualise. The colour-coding for the 7 planets of Crowley is given as the division of light by a prism, while the colour-coding for the Elemental Pentagram and Zodiac round given by Mathers derive from the so-called "King's" and "Queen's" scales of colour, given by Aleister Crowley in his book "777."

this video covers the second portion of the Golden Dawn system that is not directly Enochian, but which should be considered a pre-requisite to understanding the Golden Dawn applications of John Dee's Enochian system. In this section we discuss SL MacGregor Mathers' chart for the "Concourse of the Forces," and apply this model onto the shape of a torus or hypersphere. Before we look at the chart in 3-dimensions, we first examine each of its component descriptions, including the order of Elements for each Season, according to the signs of the Zodiac, as well as the application to these Seasons of 3 traits each, each Common, Moving or Fixed. Mathers provides several further diagrams, excluded here but covered extensively in the accompanying textbook, to adumbrate the aspects of the "Concourse of the Forces" model, however by looking at the shape as it is graphed onto the surface of a torus, or hypersphere, in 3-dimensions, we can see much more easily the basic most fundamental trait shared in common by all these other diagrams: that the zodiac proceeds to rotate in a counter-clockwise direction, while the elements (4th in order) proceed to rotate in a clockwise direction. This method of "counter-rotation" of the zodiac on one side and the (4th order) elemental forces on the other in opposite directions yields the seasons as the "Concourse of the Forces" around the outside of the model torus.

this video introduces the Table of Union, a chart used by the Golden Dawn to relate the four elements by rows and columns, thus rendering 16 squares, which we see can be attributed to the royal cards of a tarot deck's lesser arcana, or by Enochian letters. We are also introduced to the method of "squaring" each square, that is, labeling each square's sides as well as its centre. Thus, the elements along the columns above are labeled on the left side of each square, and the elements upon the rows below are labeled on the right side of each square. To derive the elemental labels for the other two sides of the squares, we look to deciphering the four Elemental Watchtowers by applying this method. We find that by substituting the Tetragrammaton (Hebrew 4-letter name of God) for the four elements, S.L. MacGregor Mathers has given us an ingenious code to solving the attributes per each square or letter of the four Elemental Watchtowers. We find that by resorting of elements by rows and columns, each square on the four Watchtowers has its own uniqe recombination of elements.

this video shows us the completed model of John Dee's Enochian system's four Elemental Watchtowers as envisioned in its ultimate extent by S.L. MacGregor Mathers. We are introduced first to the colour-coding system, derived from the Rose Cross Lamen used by the Golden Dawn and drawn exclusively from their original cipher manuscripts. Secondly, we look again at the Table of Union to discern the application to each letter-square of an elemental trait on the right side, per row, and the left side, per column. Next we examine the four Watchtowers themselves, describing the Dekan crosses with a planet per right side and a zodiac sign per left side for each letter-square, and the Calvary crosses, as described by the ten numbered squares of each sub-angle on each elemental Watchtower of the Enochian system. We consider the interior-most sub-angles, the so-called "doubled elementals," as representing the seasons of the mean year in a clockwise order, as well as the counter-clockwise circle of the 12 sub-angles surrounding these four. Finally, we examine the method of mapping these graphs onto the exterior surface of a cube to produce Aleister Crowley's version of a Golden Dawn style recreation of the original Enochian altar used by John Dee. This concludes the section on the Golden Dawn applications of John Dee's Enochian system of magick.
